Digital executor

A person named or informally trusted to help manage digital accounts and assets after death or incapacity.

Emergency access

A password manager or account feature that lets a trusted person request access under specific conditions.

Recovery code

A backup code used to regain access to an account when two-factor authentication is unavailable.

Two-factor authentication

A second login step, such as an authenticator app, text message, security key, or recovery code.

Beneficiary

A person or organization designated to receive money, property, account benefits, or insurance proceeds.

Probate

The court process for validating a will and handling estate administration when required.

Online memorial

A website or page for sharing stories, photos, service information, and tributes for someone who died.
