Emergency guide

What to do first when digital access becomes urgent

Use this page for orientation. Laws, platform rules, and family authority vary, so involve the appropriate professionals when accounts, money, or estate decisions are involved.

First hour

Secure communication and people

Find the phone, primary email, emergency contacts, doctors, and immediate family communication channels. Do not close accounts yet.

First day

Find authority and documents

Look for power of attorney, healthcare directive, will, trust, executor paperwork, attorney contact, and insurance information.

First week

Stabilize bills and key accounts

Identify utilities, mortgage or rent, insurance, phone, cloud storage, email, banking, and subscriptions that could create problems if ignored.

Do not rush

Preserve photos and records

Back up phones, computers, drives, and cloud libraries before canceling accounts. Some memories disappear when subscriptions lapse.
